Merry Christmas According to Kai

Hi! This is Kai. I get to tell you about our year this time!!!

I am in 1st grade. I love that I have two really nice teachers. My favorite thing about school is P.E. and recess because you get to do games. Levi is 9 and in 4th grade, Jadyn is 8 and in 2nd grade, and Liana is about to turn 5 and she's in Mommy Preschool.

What makes me special is that I have a nice Mommy and Daddy. I also really love legos. I can build a ton of stuff and huge things. My favorite is the Droid Tri-Fighter. I love how the middle of it can open. This is me with one of the things I built.

I also build cool domino things.

This summer was cool cuz we took our vacation to California. We went to the beach, and Levi flipped in the water. I got to swim in the hot tub but I don't like hot so I went into the pool. We went to Sea World and saw a huge killer whale jump out of the water. He made a huge splash. At Legoland we got to build out of duplos and legos and went down a slide. We went on a roller coaster that when you go down the huge hill it's scary. It really is scary when you go down, and it hurts my stomach. I just want to go down again and again. We then went to see Great Grandma and Great Grandpa. I liked that we got to eat dinner with them. (pics below this post)

Me and the other kids are playing piano now. I like playing chords in "Mary Had a Little Lamb". Grandma (our teacher) is great!

This is us with our cousins with our family. They are really good cousins because they are funny and they play with me a lot. I love that I have cousins here in Colorado Springs. Me and the boys like to play with the car tracks. We went up Pikes Peak with them. We got to play on the cog rail tracks, and got to go in the store.

This was all of us for crazy hair night at AWANAS. I won!!!! My hair was awesome!

For Halloween, we did trick or treating and went to the Y for a haunted house. We ran a kid race in our family Harry Potter costumes. It was really fun and Levi got in 6th. I was Dumbledore, and my beard kept getting in my mouth. Levi was Harry, Dad was Voldemort, Jadyn was Luna, Liana was Dobby, and mom was Professor Umbridge. Daddy painted his head white to be Voldemort, he was freaky.

Grandma and Grandpa live here now. They used to live in Arizona, but now they live in Colorado because they moved. Grandpa really like the Angels and so do we. Grandpa makes fun farting noises with his mouth and he plays with us a lot. Grandma gives really good hugs.

Nana and Papa visited us for Thanksgiving. It was Jadyn's birthday on Thanksgiving and Nana and Papa came but they didn't bring Max (their dog) which made me sad. We called Thanksgiving, thanks-Jadyn since it was her birthday.

For Christmas we saw Santa at the Y. We also went to the Santa Express with the cousins and Grandma and Grandpa (it was their present to us) and got hot chocolate and cookies. I couldn't have the hot chocolate though because I threw up on the drive down to Canon City to go there.

We also went with our cousins to the North Pole. I went on the slides about 7 times. I went on a umbrella ride and it felt like I was dyeing!!!!

This year for Christmas, we put our Christmas tree up with decorations...a ton! Levi and Daddy made a paper star for the top. We also put Christmas lights up with Papa. It looks so cool! They are also on our railings. I got a lot of presents that I like. I got dinosaurs from Santa this morning. I think Santa is Uncle Pat, but Mom and Dad say it wasn't him we saw out the window.

Daddy does basketball practice where we get to do free ball. He works in the office and teaches 7th grade (math). Mommy takes care of us and Daddy. She does fer-tography.

I love my brother and sisters! I'm glad Mommy got them. I'm glad it wasn't just me. And I'm glad it's Christmas. We believe in Jesus that he died for us. Merry Christmas!!!

Family Vacation

Two days after Kaitlin and Dan's wedding, we headed out for California! We had a wonderful time! It was our first real family vacation in the ten years that Matt and I have been married.

Our first stop was Laguna Beach where we spent three days at the Pacific Edge Hotel, right on the beach. It was really great being able to walk from our hotel room to the ocean. These photos were taken our first day there when the kids were discovering the ocean for the very first time.

Levi and Liana were determined to learn how to surf on our boogie boards.

Next, we visited Sea World. We loved getting to see the new Turtle Reef exhibit and getting to meet the dolphins.

Our next stop was the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park. Ironically, the things the kids enjoyed most here, were the petting zoo and the entertainment.

Our last big amusement park was Legoland. I think we could have spent five days there!

I love the looks on everyone's faces. This was the first roller coaster all four of them had been on!

On the fourth of July we went to a small neighborhood parade.

Then we spent the evening at Angel's Stadium watching a game and watching the amazing fireworks.

Our last stop was to visit my grandparents in the Sacramento area.

Camping at 11 Mile Canyon

This weekend we got to drive to 11 mile canyon for some good old tent camping. We had SUCH a good time! It is great having the kids old enough to all participate in the camping experience! We did some hiking, some "river rafting," (i.e. blow up Dora and Spiderman rafts), some marshmallow roasting and some rock climbing, all just under two hours from our front door!

Two weeks ago we went to the sand dunes with the kids and with my sister and her family. It was so beautiful! The water was wonderfully warm and the sun shining!

Dance Recitals

Jadyn and Liana both have a dance recital coming up in a couple of weeks with Sundance Studios in Monument. They are so thrilled with their dance costumes, and so excited to perform! This week I took them each on a separate photo shoot before the show!

Since we got two feet of wonderful fluffy snow yesterday, we decided to go have some fun! Here are some pictures!

Hello everyone! This is Kai, and it is my turn to write the Christmas letter this year!

This was an important year because I turned four and am a big boy! I got to go to preschool where I get to have recess and eat snacks! I made Mommy promise she wouldn't go anywhere fun while I was there (she can grocery shop if she wants), so now I really like going! I now can write my name really well and I taught Liana (2 yrs.) how to spell my name too (though she thinks it's her name that is spelled K A I ). I also got to learn to ride a tricycle at preschool since we have no sidewalks at our new home for me to learn how and that is what I do most days!

Mommy says we live in our car these days with me in morning school, Jadyn in afternoon school and Levi in full day school, but our house is REALLY a duplex with a circular floor plan so we can chase each other around for hours without having to stop and turn around. I love it! Our dog likes to run in circles too, but she does that as she's chasing her tail. Our cat usually hides under the couch at time like these.

Daddy is teaching math at West Middle School now and really enjoys it. He gets to play games and teach kids all day. He's SO lucky! Mommy is still doing photography too! Sometimes she makes me get my picture taken, but I don't really like it very much. I try to look really sad when she takes my picture, but sometimes I smile 'cuz I can't hold it in long enough.

Levi is seven now and is in 2nd grade and is the wii master jedi. Levi loves reading now too and just read a whole bunch of really, really big books! I read them too during nap time while he's at school and can't take them away from me. I look at every single page and then tell Mommy I read the WHOLE thing! Jadyn is 6 and is in kindergarten and she has these cool polly pockets you can pull apart and reassemble. It would be cool if I could do that too. I could switch torsos with Levi and hair with Jadyn. Next year I'll be in kindergarten too just like Jadyn, and Mommy won't live in her car as much anymore and that will make her really happy!!!

Liana is about to have a birthday and only she gets presents. This made me kinda sad. But Jesus is going to have a birthday and we ALL will get presents. I think that is really nice of Jesus to let us have presents on HIS birthday. I'm not sure how to give Jesus a present for his birthday, though. I'll have to think about that one.

Here is a picture of us with Santa. I read in the Flagstaff newspaper that Santa likes chewy chocolate chip cookies the best. Santa has good taste, that's all I'm saying! Cookies and pizza are the key to true happiness.

This week I was awarded two different awards from the WPJA (wedding photojournalists association). I am so honored that they thought my photos were worthy of placement in this competition! You may see more award winning photographs on their web site http://www.wpja.com/

This first one received third place in the getting ready category. This moment was captured as the bride and groom were about to see each other for the first time.

The other one received a sixth place under the toasting category. This great couple used milk cartons for their first toast. They were so much fun to photograph!

We are all doing well. Matt is still looking for a job. He keeps not getting the positions he is applying for. in the meantime he has moved into management at Salsa Brava and hopefully can continue to move up! My photography business is taking off, which is great! I am excited for this summer's wedding season!

Christmas Newsletter

Hi, this is Liana. This year I get to write our Christmas newsletter because, after all, I'm almost 2.

Well, first off, there are two important things you should know about me. One, I am a princess, and two, I am a baby. I am very proud of both of these things because the first one means I get to wear pretty dresses, sing a lot and dance during my spare time, and the second one means I get to be carried up and down the stairs whenever I want it and sometimes get to eat dinner before the other kids.

Here is what my baby expression looks like. It works really well on mom's. You just follow the look and leg squeeze with with a "hug please" and it works every time!

I do still have siblings too, and they are a lot of fun. They are especially fun when they carry me around the house. But I also have enjoyed learning new games from them, such as when Kai taught me how to ride our dog, and when Jadyn taught me how to run around in circles singing "ryleigh belle" (Ryleigh is code for Princess...cousin Ryleigh approves this message) and when Levi taught me how to color and I decided to color the table.

My big brother Levi is in 1st grade this year. He likes recess best, and I can't blaime him because his school has a good playground with monkey bars!

Jadyn just turned 5 and she's a princess big girl. mommy doesn't carry her around much, but Jadyn DOES get to wear pretty dresses with me and we LOVE dancing together and she's teaching me how to sing.

Kai is 3 now and he gets mad if he gets called a baby. He still really loves "chow" (Disney Cars) and while he's not very good at princess dancing he's really good at breakdancing and front rolls.

The last few months we have been able to live with Byree (Byron and Marie) and their son Caleb. They are fun, especially because "Ree" buys me dresses.

Daddy is still looking for a new job but may be hearing about something soon so keep posted. Mommy'll let you know!

Mommy still takes lots of picture, though I learned from my big brother to say "no" when the papparazzi comes around so there are not QUITE as many of me these days.

The Zoo

Today we went to the Ft. Worth zoo. We had a great time and I took a few portraits of the kids between "amimals" as Liana called them. They had a great time and even Levi admitted he was tired at the end.

For this picture we asked the kids to show us the leaves they had collected. They all did so but then poor Jadyn realized she'd lost hers and started laughing.

People needed to cross the bridge so we had to snap this quickly, but it was such a pretty spot!

Kai became particularly attached to this leaf, carrying it around faithfully the whole day (though it was looking more shabby by the end of the day!)

This was designed to show the kids how far certain animals/insects can jump. The look of intensity of Jadyn's face is so priceless as she tries to outrun/jump a frog!

This week we are in Texas for Thanksgiving and got to celebrate Jadyn's 5th birthday with her Nana, Papa and cousins! The weather here is beautiful and we were able to go spend time at a park.

My sister had a marathon last week and me and the three younger kids (Levi has a sleepover) went and took pictures while we waited for her to run by and then all of us went to see her finish. She got second place!

Our house is sold! This is great news in such a sluggish market! We praise God for this! We are also thankful for Forestgate and their help in the process.
Matt had a job interview in Winter Park this weekend for a chef job with Young Life and is interviewing for Young Life area director jobs as well. Prayers for wisdom and God's direction would be greatly appreciated!!!
Here are some pictures from when we were in Winter Park. Me and the kids were in the condo for much of it, so that's why there are so many porch pictures. This first one was a tornado we saw touching down over Castle Rock. By the time I took this it was starting to go away but it sure looked daunting right ahead of us.

Matt's job search

I thought I should take a moment to do an update on Matt's job situation. He resigned from Forestgate Prebyterian Church on June 4th and has been looking for a new position since then. He has a passion for discipling and would really love to do RUF (Reformed University Fellowship- a college ministry), but there will not be any positions until next Fall (09). He has also applied for a lot of solo pastor positions and for assistant pastor positions, but so far none of these have come through. We are just waiting on God to show us his purpose in this, and to lead us where he wants us! In a way, it is exciting to be heading towards a new adventure.

In the meantime Matt is working part time at Salsa Brava serving tables, and is searching for a full time position. There is a possibility of working at a Young Life camp, though this is still in exploration.

Our house is on the market to give us maximum flexibility and to prevent further loss in an unstable market. Prayers for a quick and well priced sale, would be very appreciated, and of course, more importantly, for God to show us where he is taking us!

Arizona

After Texas we went to Phoenix for a family reuinion with my Grandparents, parents and one of my sisters and her family. We got to stay at the Merriot there and it was so amazing! The kids were ecstatic!

Kai's Birthday

Kai turned three on Friday! We had a Disney Cars themed party for him and we was so excited that he finally got a party just for him! He did keep singing Happy birthday to Liana though...;-) We had a lot of fun and he got a lot of really cool toys!

Levi spent his own money to buy Kai "Lizzie."

Texas

Here are a few pictures from our visit to Texas so far! We have had a great time with Matt's parents, and the kids love going in the pool. Matt is now at General Assemply for the PCA, and we miss him so much! Fortunately he will be back in time for Kai's birthday party Friday night!

The kids were so fascinated by the airport. Every time a plane would land Kai would run up to me and shout "The plane is home Mommy!"

We took the kids to Dinosaur Land where they got to see real dinosaur tracks and to wade in the river. Levi especially enjoyed this part. He is an outdoor kid to the core!

Jadyn was overjoyed when she saw this field of wildflowers after our time in the river. She learned the names of each wildflower she found and handed them out to everyone so we could all enjoy them.

This dinosaur had a very fun history of head swapping and such having to do with a fued between different dinosaur bone collectors.

Nana and Papa have a pool and all of the kids (except Liana) can swim with their floaties on. Liana particularly loves going in the pool. She'll point to the back door and pull on her clothes to let us know she wants to duit up and go!

Latest Update- June 2008

Jadyn had a dance recital last week before we left for Texas. She got to dance to "Every Girl Can Be A Princess." She was so excited to get to wear her lavender dance costume!

Liana also potty trained last month...for about two weeks she was accident free! Then she started walking and decided there were better things to do with her time! She loves using her new walking skills to chase the cat!

Levi also got to do landsharks running club this Spring. He did awesome at it and ran with all of his heart!

Kai finished up his gymnastics (the higlight of every week). Here is a picture of him wearing his medal at his awards ceremony. He wore it non-stop for about two weeks (except to bed of course!)

And last, but not least,Matt spent two weeks putting up storage shelves in our garage. Don't worry, the kids were safe!!

While Levi was at school today I had some fun playing with the other kids. Liana got to have her official eating cake for her 1st birthday picture done (one month late), jadyn got to pick out all her favorite clothes to wear for hers, and Kai just wanted his picture taken in front of the flower backdrop ;-)

Jadyn is very into being a ballerina princess right now as you can probably tell from the pictures (darn library books starting these things! ;-). She also is really enjoying making up songs, including one the other day about the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles "and we go to the sewers, and the snakes aren't mean, but we just run from them...)

Here is one of Kai. I did my darndest to make the flower backdrop dissapear though...it clashed with his shirt!

Christmas 2007

Hello everyone! This is Kai (Mikiah). I am two now and so I get to write the Christmas card and tell you all about our family this last year.

First of all, I became a BIG brother. Liana-Baby was born last year after Christmas. I love hugging her and giving her toys and small chokable objects. Sometimes I accidently hug her over backwards too and she cries, but I hug her more to help her get all better. Mommy says just not to lay on top of her when I hug her because it squishes her.

I also turned two this year and got a family party just for me! Levi had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 5th birthday party and Jadyn had a Pony fourth birthday party. It was fun!

Santa is coming this year and he also requested pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream and also he wanted green olives. I can't wait to make it for him! I hope he brings me a ka-chow toy (Disney Cars).

Daddy has been loving his work at Forestgate Presbyterian Church as assistant pastor. We have a lot of fun there and they have animal crackers and a really cool drinking fountain. Sometimes people don't like waiting in line behind me because I don't ever stop playing in it until Mommy makes me.

Mommy has a busy year ahead of her for photography as she is shooting lots of weddings. Jadyn says a wedding is a place Mommy takes pictures. Her web page has moved to hollypacionephotography.com. Greempa made it for her.

Levi started kindergarten this fall. I love going with Mommy to drop him off in the afternoons. I think maybe he plays all day...and makes Turkeys. Maybe I can go soon?

Me, Jadyn and Levi all started taking "naktics" this year (gymnastics), and Jadyn is also taking dance. It is so cool! At first I wasn't taking it and I kept having to ask mommy, "Do that please, Mommy?" I guess it worked because they signed me up. Liana doesn't get to do it because she still doesn't walk. Maybe I squished her too hard of something.

My favorite things right now are Kachow, Thomas (the train), Jay Jay, and our kitty cat. Kitty sleeps in my room at nap time and I love it! I am learning to pet her really gentle so she doesn't run away and hide under the couch. I don't know why she doesn't like being pulled by her tail but Mommy says I shouldn't.

Hello, this is Liana. For those of you who don't know me I'm the Pacione baby aka "My best sister," "Liana baby," "Lalana," and "lawni fawni." Things here have been quite grand. I have my own crib with a built in entertainment system (my sister Jadyn who comes and plays with me before we go to sleep!), nearly unlimited grahm crackers (I don't like that mushy baby cereal too much!), tons of hugs, AND SO MUCH TO WATCH!

My favorite toy right now is peakable puppy. He rocks back and forth and makes lights and sounds. Mommy says Nana bought him for Levi when he was a baby but now that he's into spiderman and guns I get it all to myself! I like talking to it about my day and how things have been going and I tell it all about my grahm crackers. It tells me it loves me, so i know it understands.

I also really like peek-a-boo and tickles right now. I am most ticklish along my spine. Mommy just cracks me up when she tickles me there!

Daddy got ordained a few months ago and spends less time playing peekaboo behind books. Mommy is all done with school too, though she finished that before I broke onto the scene and is spending more time behind her camera. I get lots of pictures taken! We went to michigan a few weeks back and that is where a lot of the pictures of me are from. I met two great grandmas and a whole bunch of other people who snuggled with me!

Levi is starting kindergarten in a week and can't wait to meet lots of new friends and to use his teenage mutant ninja turtle backpack! Jadyn is starting soccer next week and is really excited. She wants a pink soccer ball and has a cool red soccer shirt. And Mikiah is swimming in the pool at the YMCA with Mommy and enjoys asking the question "why?" a lot. I'm trying to take tips on how to say this word as it must be a pretty useful one judging by its frequency. Kai is a good brother who teaches me things like how to fall over backwards while I'm sitting up (he helps me build the momentum), and how to make farting noises with my lips.

For those of you who do not know...I...am...SPIDERMAN! Yes, Peter Parker is a fraud and I am the real genuine article. Now I know what you're thinking...I'm only four, I'm not tall enough to ride on the big slide at Focus on the Family...I don't know how to do Calculus...but, its the truth...I can swing from buildings using my webs, fight Dr. Octopus, etc. etc...I'm just that good!

So its obviously been a big year preparing for my new movie and fighting crime and all that. But I also had a big year as my alias Levi Pacione. I turned five on April 5th and I also start kindergarten next year. It will be so cool. I'll get that Calculus mastered in no time.

Jadyn turned three in November and she gets to stay up at night with me and we can play Little Daddy (Zelda) and Teenage Mutant Engine Turtles together (Ninja Turtles) on the Nintendo!

Mikiah will be two in June. I introduce him to people as Raptor or Kaiwap. He likes to climb things and almost always has a bruise on his head. He also like to sing Dora Dora Dora all the time. He doesn't know yet that he lives with a superhero. But one day he can be my sidekick.

Liana was born on December 28th. She is so tiny. I like to stroke her head. She doesn’t do much though…she’s kinda boring. But I love her anyway!

Daddy graduated from seminary and took a job in Colorado Springs working as an assistant pastor! He really loves it! I think his job is cool because he has a dart board in his office. I like his job too because I have lots of new friends and got to be a Vacation Bible School astronaut last summer!

Mommy graduated from UCCS with her BA in Communication. Now she’s home a lot more and plays gamed with us like knee throwing (throwing us on the bed from her legs) and the pillow game (pegging us with pillows). We love those games!
